LEWISTON — Barbara “Ann” Craig Buck of Nobis Point Road, Readfield, died Nov. 30, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Glen Ridge, N.J., July 8, 1935, to George and Dorothy “Helen” Bone Craig. She graduated Calumet High School, Calumet, Mich., in 1953, and Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis., in 1957, with a bachelor of science degree in biology.
Barbara married William Buck of Dearborn, Mich., June 29, 1957. They resided in Spring Valley, N.Y., for 40 years and moved to Maine upon retiring in 2001. Mrs. Buck was a legacy member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, a respected teacher in the East Ramapo Central School District and a decorated officer with more than 20 years service to Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps, having served as captain for several years.
She and Mr. Buck were 37-year season-ticket fans of the USMA football team at West Point, N.Y., where they built lasting friendships spanning more than 40 years. Barbara was an expert knitter, a revered baker/chef, skilled bridge player/game/puzzler and gardener.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William; her brother, Barry S. Craig and wife, Diane (Diggins) Craig, of Danville, Calif.; her four children, Jane Brodsky and husband, Kenneth, of Auburn, son, Robert and wife, Joan (Hillegass), of West Grove, Pa., daughter, Sara Desjardins and husband, Christian, of McKinney, Texas, and Jennifer Finnegan and her husband, Eric, of Ellicott City, Md.; and eight grandchildren whom she adored, Andrew and Timothy Brodsky, Emily and Julianna Buck, Emerson Desjardins and Shannon, Allison and Chelsea Finnegan.
