Outlook: Winthrop hopes last year’s growing pains and learning on the fly will pay off with a return to playoff contention. Morang started at point guard as a freshman and has shown dramatic improvement in the offseason. Carter and Allen’s continued development are crucial for the Ramblers, who will regularly feature a rotation with no player taller than 6-1. Winthrop may be poised to end its four-year tournament drought.
