PARIS — In the Twin Cities, it was mostly rain. In Oxford County and into New Hampshire, wet weather Friday night was a little more troublesome.
Starting at about 8 p.m., cars and trucks began to slip and slide in several parts of Oxford County, sending police out on slick roads.
The problem in those areas was freezing rain, police said, and dispatchers advised the officers to proceed with caution.
By 9 p.m., Oxford County Sheriff’s officials were at the scene of a crash on Route 117 in Otisfield. The extent of damage was not immediately clear, but an emergency dispatcher said she had no reports of serious injury at any of the crash sites.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, the ice and slick roads was right where they expected it to be. Late in the day Friday, they issued an advisory cautioning that while rain was expected in most areas, parts of Oxford County and other inland areas might see sleet and snow as well.
More snow, sleet and rain is expected over the weekend, according to the weather service.
