Red Hat Mommas meet

RUMFORD — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the United Methodist Church Virgin Memorial Chapel.

Wear an “ugly” sweater and bring an appetizer to share. A play will be presented by our own Red Hatters.

Twenty-seven members met at the “Green Church” in Mexico for the November meeting. There was a mystery menu and meal. Poems were read and one birthday was celebrated.

‘Best Christmas Pageant’ play

Christmas cantata planned

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Community chorus will present “Come Let Us Worship the King” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the West Paris Baptist Church for their annual Christmas presentation.

There will also be a living nativity on Saturday, Dec. 22, from noon until dark at the church.

Local Working Group Meeting

PARIS — The Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a meeting of the Oxford County USDA Local Working Group at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Oxford County Cooperative Extension building, 9 Olson Road. Olson Road is about a mile north of South Paris village on Route 26, the first right after Jewell Tire Center.

Local Working Groups assist the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in matters relating to the implementation and technical aspects of conservation programs under Title II of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill).

Agenda items include prioritizing resource concerns affecting land-users in Oxford County, and setting funding allocation pool percentages; reviewing the Environmental Quality Incentive Program practices and payment rates proposed for Oxford County program participants for FY 2012; and establishing local ranking questions for Oxford County EQIP Application Evaluation Ranking Tool.
