- Once again, every seventh-grade student at Oxford Hills Middle School is busy decorating Hannaford grocery bags with holiday cutouts and poems. The tradition began in 2001 and is now coordinated at the middle school by Brenda Mariner, Language Arts Department head. Maureen Howard, director of the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange, coordinates this annual program. This year the students will be decorating both cloth and paper bags. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, some of the artists and poets will offer the bags free to Hannaford customers as they come in to shop. Putting finishing touches on their bags are, from left, William McLaughlin, Lila Rehmert, James Doucette and Ebony Wells.
