DURHAM — ReTreeUS, a nonprofit project dedicated to promoting an environmentally sustainable, socially just food system, plants orchards with local schools and provide educational programs that empower young people and their families to grow their own home gardens.

The group’s Tree Campaign is on again this year, with a great gift option for supporters: Every new member joining at the level of $25 or more this December through February will receive a complementary share of produce from the farm stand next year.

Those who are already members can donate a gift membership in someone’s honor; a certificate for the holidays will be sent notifying them of their farm stand share.

New donors to the Crowdrise campaign will receive the farm stand benefit as well. Donate at www.crowdrise.org/retreeus.

ReTreeUS will be installing four more orchards at Brownfield-Denmark, Durham Community, Oceanside High and Freeport High Schools. A farm full of produce will also be sold at their Durham Fruit Shack next summer.
