DIXFIELD — Henry F. Thebarge Sr., 91, of Third Street, Dixfield, died early Thursday, Dec. 13, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July, 30, 1921, in Madison, a son of Felix P. and Melanie (Dorin) Thebarge and attended local schools.
On Sept. 1, 1941, he married Elaine L. Emery. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the infantry. Henry and Elaine are best remembered for their loving example of a Christian loving marriage that endured hardships and joy in each other and their family.
They worked in the shoe industry, bought the Marigold Cabins in 1957, and raised three children, Wayne Sr., Sherrylee and Henry Jr.
Henry could always be seen with his hand-made tool box ready to help anyone who needed something fixed. He and Elaine enjoyed square dancing for 30 years and traveled to Florida for 16 years and made many friends with people across the United States.
He will be missed, but never forgotten by his wife of 71 years, Elaine of Dixfield; his children, Wayne A. Thebarge Sr. and his wife, Sindi, of Vermont, Sherrylee A. Searles and her fiancé, Stephen Ames, of Livermore and Henry F. Thebarge Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Roxbury; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family would like to give special thanks to River Valley Internal Medicine, Rumford Hospital, Victorian Villa and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, and all of their staff who assisted the family and their loving care; also to Wiles Remembrance Center for assisting with the arrangements.
Condolences and tributes may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
