Historical group potluck supper

MEXICO — The Rumford and Mexico Historical Society will hold their Christmas potluck supper at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Calvin Lyons Room, Mexico Municipal Building.

The meal is open to the public. Bring a dish to share and a donation of nonperishable food items.

Christian Women United luncheon

PARIS — Christian Women United luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the South Paris Congregational Church. Pastor Don Mayberry will be the speaker/singer. Call Janice at 743-5770 for reservations.

LIVERMORE FALLS — The annual free Community Christmas Dinner will be held Christmas Day at the American Legion Post Hall on Reynolds Avenue from noon to 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Organizers are looking for volunteers who would like to cook or make a donation. Most needed are bakers willing to cook about 15 pies and 16 batches of cookies. Also needed are turkeys, hams, potatoes, squash, stuffing and gravy mixes, cranberry jelly and nine to 12 dozen rolls.

Those wishing to attend the meal should call Karen Mitchell at 897-3593 and leave a name and how many will be attending. This will help with meal planning. There will be meal delivery available in the local area.

This dinner is supported by the Tri-Town Ministers and excess donations will be given to the food bank.

Christmas Worship event

RUMFORD — The Rumford Baptist Church will host a Christmas Worship Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23. Refreshments will be served afterward.

All are welcome to join in remembering the birth of Jesus Christ and worshiping the King of Kings with music and song. The Rumford Baptist Church building is at the corner of Washington Street and Plymouth Avenue.

Candlelight service Dec. 24

WEST PARIS —  On Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. the First Universalist Church of West Paris will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight celebration. The service will include singing hymns; special music by musicians Jim Burke, Jeremiah Goodwin and Brian Dunham; storytelling and a candlelight recessional. All are welcome to attend.

In place of the traditional offering the church will be accepting donations of nonperishable food or money for the West Paris food pantry.

Library lists holiday hours

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Library will be closed for the holidays on Monday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 31.

The library will be open normal hours on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 7 p.m., Fridays from 1:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The library may occasionally be closed due to severe winter weather. Call ahead at 674-2004 if the weather is questionable.
