CASCO — A Naples woman was critically injured Tuesday morning when the truck she was riding in slid into the path of a box truck on Route 11.

According to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Shawn Trottier, 29 of Naples, was traveling south on Route 11 with passenger Sabrina Cloutier, 33, of Naples, when he lost control on the icy road. His truck spun into the oncoming lane and into the path of a 2008 Freightliner box truck driven by Max Walton, 46, of Livermore Falls.

The box truck, owned by Kris-Way Truck Leasing Inc. of South Portland, struck the passenger side of Trottier’s truck. According to the Sheriff’s Office, both Trottier and Cloutier had to be extricated by firefighters.

Cloutier was transported to Maine Medical Center with what the Sheriff’s Office described as life-threatening injuries. A nursing supervisor said at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday that she was in critical condition.

Trottier’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, officials said.

Walton was transported to Bridgton Hospital with minor injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
