I am looking at the horror of what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., from the perspective of Adam Lanze; an unpopular view, I am sure.
As someone who suffers from mental illness, I can say from experience that others cannot begin to fathom the mental agony and mental torture Lanze had to have been experiencing prior to shooting his own mother, the staff and innocent children at the school and eventually himself.
In no way am I minimizing or excusing Lanze’s actions or the grief the victims’ families must be experiencing. The guilt and grief that Lanze’s family must be experiencing must also be heavy.
All the victims and their families need our prayers and support.
