ELLSWORTH /PORTLAND — Four new advisers have been appointed to the Western Mountains Committee of the Maine Community Foundation: Matt Dubois of Skowhegan, Karen Hart of Skowhegan, Andrew Marble of Farmington and John Witherspoon of Kingfield.
Dubois is the co-owner of The Bankery and Skowhegan Fleuriste. He also serves as a board member for Main Street Skowhegan.
Hart is assistant vice president and marketing officer for Skowhegan Savings Bank. She serves as a board member for the Lake George Regional Park and Skowhegan Rotary Club. Hart is also a member of the Skowhegan Run of River Committee.
Marble is a fourth generation farmer for Marble Family Farms in Farmington. He serves as a board member for the Fairbanks Meeting House and is president of the Farmington Farmers Market. Marble is also a member of the Farmington Grange and serves on the University of Maine at Farmington Alumni Council.
Witherspoon is president and CEO of Skowhegan Savings Bank. He serves as a board member for the Maine Community Foundation and Redington Fairview Hospital. Witherspoon is also a member of the Skowhegan Rotary Club.
The Western Mountains Committee is made up of local leaders who partner with the community foundation to award grants through the Western Mountains Fund and to build charitable resources to serve the region. Since its establishment in 1992, the committee has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to more than 320 projects throughout Franklin and Somerset Counties. In 2012, the committee awarded more than $74,000 to 15 area nonprofits.
