ELLSWORTH (AP) — A free medical clinic in Ellsworth that treats the uninsured is running low on cash and is in danger of closing.
The Ellsworth Free Medical Clinic is run by volunteer doctors and nurses and has been treating people for about two decades.
It survives on grants and donations and the office coordinator says that money is running out.
Linda Grindle told WABI-TV that without a boost in the budget, the clinic may have to shut down as soon as March. She says even the patients treated at the clinic pay what they can, even if it’s just a few dollars.
Volunteers are currently working on getting some new grants for the clinic.
