FARMINGTON — A Peru man pleaded not guilty Friday to breaking into two businesses in Franklin County and taking cash and other items April 11, 2012.

Anthony R. Scott, 30, entered the pleas to two counts each of felony burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Scott was indicted Jan. 16 in relation to charges that he broke into Ron’s Texaco in Phillips and Skoolhouse Variety in Weld.

The grand jury charged that Scott took money from Ron’s Texaco on Route 4 in Phillips and damaged or destroyed a door on the property.

The grand jury also charged that he broke into Skoolhouse Variety on Route 156 in Weld and took money, cigarettes and energy drinks the same day.

Scott is being held at Oxford County Jail in South Paris on charges in that county.
