WILTON — A woman from Hope was injured Tuesday morning when she drove into the back of a tractor-trailer parked in front of the Big Apple on Route 2.
Kristi L. Vanblarcom, 33, is undergoing chemical testing and treatment for a possible concussion from the 10:15 a.m. accident, Wilton police officer Andrew Hardy said.
Vanblarcom was driving west in a Tuttle Auto Sales Chevy Impala loaner and apparently drove into the back of the parked 2010 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Scott McAlpine, 48, of Jay.
McAlpine was in the convenience store when someone ran in and said to call 911 because someone had hit a truck. He looked out the window and saw it was his truck. He drives for George Merrill Logging of Jay, he said at the scene.
McAlpine said he was parked in the lot of the store and had his four-way flashers on at the time.
Apparently, Vanblarcom drove into the break-down lane and hit the truck, Hardy said.
Vanblarcom seemed dazed and not sure what happened, said bystander Megan Riley, who attempted to help her before NorthStar ambulance arrived.
NorthStar took Vanblarcom to Franklin Memorial Hospital.
The Wilton Fire Department helped with traffic and cleared debris from the scene.
