WEST PARIS — Sunday worship services at the First Universalist Church of West Paris are presented by guest speakers and Worship Service Committee members. All are welcome to attend; services are 9 a.m. every Sunday until mid-June.

Feb. 10, “How Can I Keep from Singing?” Hymns, composers and poets, led by Cynthia Reedy, a regular guest speaker and teacher.

Feb. 17, “Sacred Places.” Twentieth century spiritual writer Max Erhmann believed that places can have deep spiritual meaning. At this service we’ll explore Erhmann’s beliefs about sacred places and share our own thoughts about places that are sacred to us. Led by The Rev. Fayre Stephenson.

Feb. 24, “Sacred Cow.” Exploring the tension between loving and yet killing the animals that provide us (non-vegetarians) with our daily meat; a first-hand Maine farmer’s spiritual perspective will be shared. Service led by The Rev. Jennifer Wixson, who is an itinerant Quaker minister, a writer, social activist and former pastor of the Winthrop Center Friends Church. She resides in Troy, where she keeps bees and raises Scottish Highland cattle. She is currently working on Book II, The Sovereign Series, “Peas, Beans & Corn,” which will be published in June.
