Legion supper info updated
PARIS — A public supper and dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Foster-Carroll American Legion Hall.
The Auxiliary will serve a ham dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Music will be provided by the Jones Band from 7 to 10 p.m.
Dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under. Dance is $5. For more information, call 743-6289.
Tree ID snowshoe walk
BUCKFIELD — The McLaughlin Garden and Homestead and the Western Foothills Land Trust are co-sponsoring a winter tree identification snowshoe walk on Sunday, Feb. 17. Tish Carr, who is a forester and Norway’s tree warden, will lead the walk on the newly opened Packard Trail at the Virgil Parris Forest.
The two-mile Packard loop trail meanders through a wooded slope towards the southwest shore of South Pond in Buckfield. The trail was chosen because it provides a great diversity of tree species, views above South Pond and includes interesting geology like whalebacks, waterfalls and talus slopes.
The hike should last for two hours. There is no charge for the hike, but participants are asked to reserve a spot by calling 739-2124. Anyone needing snowshoes should call before Feb. 16.
Meet at the McLaughlin Garden gate at 10:45 to carpool to the trail. Four-wheel drive vehicles may park at the Packard trailhead, which is 1.2 miles south of Route 117 on the Sodom Road. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 18.
West Paris food pantry
WEST PARIS — The food pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Spurrs Corner food pantry hours
OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 19. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month. For information call 583-4780 or 627-4329.
Forum on food set for Feb. 21
NORWAY — A public interest forum on food will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St.
Ken Morse and Scott Vlaun will lead discussions about having enough food, food without toxins, food grown or produced while preserving soil and environmental health.

Community potluck supper
WATERFORD — The Wilkins Community House will hold a Community Pot Luck Supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. All are welcome.
The Community House is in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church. Community suppers are held on the third Thursday of each month through May. The hosts for this supper are Meg Wheeler and Karen O’Brian

Foundation offering grants
NORWAY — The Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation has announced that the application for a grant from the foundation is now available on the Western Maine Health website at www.wmhcc.org
Applications must be postmarked by March 30, and awards will be decided by May 31. Eligibility requirements for grants from the Stephens Community Health Care Foundation are tied to sustainable healthcare initiatives.
Funding awards are generally limited to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations based in or benefiting healthcare initiatives in the Stephens Memorial Hospital service area.
