PORTLAND – Robert A. Sokolowski, 69, a resident of Plains Road in Leeds, died Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with, all of his family surrounding him.

He was born on June 21, 1943 in Flushing, N.Y., the son of William and Veronica Godomski Sokolowski. Robert attended school in New York. Robert served proudly in the United States Air Force. He and Patricia Parent were married on Jan. 15, 1966.

Robert was a maintenance supervisor for Carlton Woolen Mills in Winthrop for 17 years, until its closing; he then worked as a custodian for MSAD #52, until his retirement. After retiring he worked summers at Beaver Brook Campground in North Monmouth. He loved the outdoors, especially camping with his family. Robert was a history buff, avid historian who participated in re-enactments with Roger’s Rangers of the French-Indian War. He was fascinated with science, especially weather and space.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Trish) of Leeds; his daughters and spouses, Diana and Corey Smith of Oakland, Stephanie and Edward Marx of Winthrop and Trishann and Stephen Harrison of Winthrop; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, William Sokolowski and Charles Barcavage.
