JAY — Spruce Mountain Ski Slope will be open for free skiing and other activities from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m Saturday, Feb. 16.
Franklin Savings Bank and Western Mountain Financial Services have teamed up with the Healthy Community Coalition to sponsor a full day of outdoor activities.
Maine Winter Sports will make 70 pairs of cross-country skis and about 20 pairs of snowshoes available at no charge. Quantities are limited; first-come, first-served.
Alpine ski rentals will be available locally but not at the ski slope.
The Healthy Community Coalition will kick off for its Community Transformation grant-funded initiative, which aims to increase the number of no- or low-cost recreation programs available to area youths.
Coalition staff will be on hand to lead a couple of activities and to do blood pressure checks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Free Ski and Board event at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington, postponed from Feb. 8, has been rescheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
