1925 – 2013
AUBURN — Helen Pettengill Wotherspoon, 87, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, at Clover Health Care in Auburn, after a prolonged illness.
Helen was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Leeds, to James and Ada Pettengill. She graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1943, and married her husband, John, in Lewiston on July 17, 1948. She worked at Twin City Printery and then as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, L.W. Haskell Plumbing and Heating.
Helen truly embraced life. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, cooking and spending time with family, especially her sisters, Marion, Beatrice, Francis, Elizabeth, Dorothy and Eleanor.
Helen is survived by John, her loving and devoted husband of 64 years. Helen will be greatly missed by her daughter, Cheryl Perrino of Auburn; six grandchildren, Shawn Bryant and wife, Ellen, of Pennsylvania, Anne Perrino of Lewiston, Stephanie (Bryant) Doucette and husband, Phil, of Auburn, Ross Bryant and wife, Lindsey, of Massachusetts, Tim Perrino of Auburn, and Zachary Bryant and wife, Tara, of Lewiston; eight great-grandchildren, Madeline, Jack and Kate Bryant, Owen and Lucas Doucette, Mackenzie Bryant, Calvin Bryant and Aiden Perrino; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Bryant, seven sisters and two brothers.
