WILTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has a growing need for hospice and bereavement volunteers in the Wilton and Rumford areas who have a special interest in visiting patients in their homes and in nursing homes.

The Hospice Volunteer six-session training begins March 11 at the Wilton Office, 284 Main St., Suite 290. Classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Bereavement Volunteer four-session training begins April 1 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Wilton Office. For new volunteers there is an orientation class on March 28.

There will also be a Bereavement Facilitator Class offered to those who have gone through the Bereavement Volunteer training and would like to help facilitate grief support groups. This class begins on April 15 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

There is no cost to participate in any of the trainings offered.

Volunteers serve as valued members of the hospice team offering needed support for patients in the home, nursing facilities and at the Hospice House. Volunteers provide companionship to patients and respite to family members. Volunteers are always needed for the Hospice Complementary program. Volunteers are needed to provide Reiki, pet therapy and musicians who would be willing to play at the bedside of patients.
