Poetry contest deadline near
FARMINGTON — Farmington Public Library & Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties invite the public to participate in a poetry contest in honor of Poetry Month in April and Shakespeare’s 449th birthday on April 23, 1564.
All poems should be fewer than 60 lines. Three entries per poet. Drop off poems at the library or mail to Literacy Volunteers, 108 Fairbanks Road, Farmington, Maine 04938.
Deadline for submission is March 1. Winners will be announced April 1.
Cash prizes will be awarded in each of two categories: poets 20 years old and under and poets 21 years old and over. All winners will be given a public reading on April 23 and will be published in the June edition of LV Words.
All-you-can-eat breakfast
KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast is being offered from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.
The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person. A discounted rate is available for children.

‘Bunny Hop’ square dance
WILTON — Friendship Squares will host a class/mainstream/plus square dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Cushing School. The theme for this dance is “Bunny Hop.”
Calling the square dances will be Bill Foulton and the round dances will be cued by Carol Stewart Arsenault. All are welcome to attend.
Patient services agent training
TURNER — SAD 52 Adult & Community Education will hold another patient services agent training session from March 4-21. Classes will be held at Greene Central School from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The 48-hour occupational training program will be taught by industry trainers. Topics will include medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, high impact customer service and working in a goal-driven environment.

Training for dementia care
FARMINGTON/PARIS — SeniorsPlus has announced Savvy Caregiver training scheduled to begin on Mondays, March 11, in Franklin and Oxford counties. This training will help people caring for a family member with dementia to learn how to take care of themselves, reduce stress and communicate more easily with their loved one.
This is a six-week workshop, with each session lasting two hours.

Franklin Memorial Hospital, 111 Franklin Health Commons, Farmington, Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting March 11.
DHHS, 243 Main St., Suite 6, South Paris, Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. starting March 11.

5K road race set for March 9
FARMINGTON — Farmington Downtown Association and University Credit Union will sponsor a 5K Road Race at noon Saturday, March 9.
Registration is from 11 to 11:45 at the University Credit Union on High Street. The registration fee of $10 includes a T-shirt to the first 50 to register. The course is a mostly flat out and back. For more information contact Beth Beaudoin at bbeaudoin@ucu.maine.edu
