WILTON — Wilton Day Homemakers met on Feb. 14 at St. Luke’s Church. The group welcomed new member Linda Cushman.
Lois King talked about the spring State Meeting on April 27 in Herman. The theme is “Hats off to 4-H.”
The County spring meeting is May 17 at Trinity Church in Farmington. The theme is aprons.
The rotary tree raised $110. Suggested themes for next year were white doves, Santa Claus and stars. The group is looking for a state treasurer and secretary for 2013-14. All groups are to check on there EIN number for banking by next month. Suggestions for programs for 2014 were cooking, embroidery and tatting. It was suggested that members do embroidery and tatting for one of the group’s craft days.
King talked about volunteer hours and how important they are. A folder was brought in so members could keep all of their hours in it.
Money from the can tab collection will go to the Shiners. Hazel Flagg won the door prize. Those in attendance sang “Happy Birthday” to Linda and Olive.
For the day’s program, Jean Rand and Annette Spevak told about the history of Valentine’s Day. A potluck dinner was served with Annette and Hazel doing the rolls and dessert.
Upcoming events include the Franklin County Fiddlers at the Weld Town Hall on March 23. Members will be making heart monitor bags for their community service award from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 24 at the Trinity Church in Farmington. Bring sewing items. A potluck lunch will be served.
A mystery ride will be planned for March 9. Participants will leave at 9 a.m. and return around 2. Bring money for brunch, lunch and shopping.
On March 14 members will meet at St. Luke’s Church in Wilton and go to the library to do a program on computers.
March 21 is the group’s craft day. Members will be doing Buttons for Babies.
