FARMINGTON — A fire that started around or in the chimney and spread into walls of a Morrison Hill Road home late Monday afternoon was quickly put out.
Michael Cote and his son, Andy, both firefighters with Farmington Fire and Rescue, live in the home at 355 Morrison Hill Road, fire Chief Terry Bell said.
“There was some flame which burned into a wall,” he said.
Firefighters were able to get there quickly and knock it down, he said of the 5 p.m. fire.
The fire was contained to one room. Bell said he thought the Cotes could remain in the house.
“Thank God for mutual aid,” Bell said of the several departments that responded, including Temple, Wilton, Jay, Chesterville, Industry, New Sharon and East Dixfield.
