WILTON — The Wilton Free Public Library is hosting a screening of “Education Under Fire,”  at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the library. A discussion follows the film.

The 30-minute documentary reports on  The Islamic Republic of Iran’s three-decades-long policy of denying members of the Baha’i community the right to attend any institute of higher education.

The Iranian Baha’i community began an informal university in which classes were taught in the homes of Baha’i academics. This soon became the Baha’i Institute for High Education.

In May 2011, the Iranian government raided dozens of homes, confiscating computers and materials and detaining 18 professors and administrators.

The goal of the Education Under Fire, which is co-presented by Amnesty International, is to spread awareness of this issue as well as mitigate the effects of such discriminatory policies.
