NORWAY — A local man was killed in a head-on crash on Route 117 early Monday night, state police said, and a Harrison woman was seriously injured.
Norway police officer Mitchell Shaw said Kevin Haines, 63, of Norway died of injuries in the 6:45 p.m. collision near the near the four-way intersection of Old Stage and Country Club roads.
The other driver was identified by Shaw as Heather Ward, 42, of Harrison. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Haines but not registered to him had to be cut apart for fire and rescue personnel to reach him.
Ward was removed from her 2007 Jeep sport utility vehicle, which had major damage.
The road was closed for hours while Maine State Police Trooper Dan Hanson reconstructed the accident.
