Roast beef supper March 9

MEXICO — A public roast beef supper will be served at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”).

Men of the church will be preparing the meal, which will include homemade pies, most of which will be donated by the women. Take outs will be available after 5:30 p.m.; call 364-8603. The price for adults is $8 and $3 for children under 12.

St. Patrick’s Day dinner at Eagles

RUMFORD — A St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Rumford Eagles Banquet Hall.

The menu consists of corned beef or ham, potato, cabbage, carrots, onion, turnip and a roll.

Proceeds will benefit Maine Hospice.

Historical Society meeting

RUMFORD — The regular monthly meeting of the Rumford Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the auditorium of the Municipal Building on Congress Street. The meeting is open to the public, and new members are always encouraged.

The program for the evening will feature Ms. Nghia Ha. She will make a presentation to the members on the procedures to follow on their home computers to access the RSU 10 digitization of the histories of the 12 towns comprising RSU 10.

Ha’s presentation will focus on how to view the Rumford Historical Society’s portion of the data on Maine Memory Network, sponsored by Maine Historical Society of Portland. The Historical Society’s committee working on this project included Ha, Jane Peterson, David Blouin, Randall Smith and Terri Palmer.

Following the program, light refreshments will be served.

All attendees are asked to enter and exit the building through the River Street entrance, adjacent to the Rumford Police Department.
