FARMINGTON – RSU 9 directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to hire Thomas “Dr. Tom” Ward as superintendent of the 10-town school district.

Ward is currently the superintendent of RSU 10 serving the Rumford, Dixfield and Buckfield areas.

Ward of Temple, who is also a 1972 Mt. Blue High School graduate, accepted the position contingent on negotiating a contract.

If it is successful he would start his new duties on July 1.

Current RSU 9 Superintendent Mike Cormier plans to resign after 20 years on the job on June 30.
