MEXICO — From Feb. 25 through March 15, Maine children’s book author Lynn Plourde is doing an author-in-residence program with Grade K-5 students at Meroby Elementary School.
Plourde began her visit with an assembly, sharing books interactively on slides and turning another book into a play with props. During the residency, she is working with each classroom to get ideas, plan, write and revise stories.
On the evening of March 14 at 6 p.m., Plourde will present at a family literacy night. Call Meroby Elementary School at 364-3714 for further information.
Plourde has had 27 children’s books published, including her newest, “Only Cows Allowed,” “Dino Pets Go to School” and “Lost Trail,” a graphic novel co-authored with Donn Fendler. Her next book to be released in July will be “You’re Wearing THAT to School?!” Some of her other books include “Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Rud,” “Moose, of Course!” and “The Dump Man’s Treasures,” a Smithsonian Notable Book for Children.
Video read-alouds, learning activities and a blog on teaching writing are available at www.lynnplourde.com.
Plourde is a Skowhegan native who lives in Winthrop with her husband, Paul Knowles.
