PARIS — A man accused of running over a construction site flagger in November 2012 pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court to aggravated assault, operating under the influence and driving to endanger.

Michael R. Tremblay, 55, of Bingham, is accused of hitting Alan Smith of Dixfield on Nov. 16. Smith was directing traffic on Route 2 in Dixfield when Tremblay struck him with his 2009 Dodge pickup truck, police said.

Lt. Roy Hodsdon told the Sun Journal in February that Smith was holding a stop sign when Tremblay accelerated his truck, striking Smith and dragging him 21 feet under the truck before being pulled onto the sidewalk. The truck stopped when it hit a guy wire.

Smith suffered multiple fractures throughout his body, including his legs and hips, Hodsdon said in February, and is still receiving medical care.

The Class B aggravated assault charge carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years and a fine of up to $20,000. The other two charges, both Class C, carry sentences of up to five years and fines of up to $5,000.

Tremblay is due to appear in Oxford County Superior Court on July 3.
