Succulents in rock gardens
PARIS — Mark Brandhorst from Halls Pond Gardens in South Paris will talk about using hardy succulents and other drought tolerant plants in rock gardens on Wednesday, March 13, at the McLaughlin Garden and Homestead on Main Street near the Oxford County Courthouse. In taking advantage of rock outcroppings and stonewalls, the possibilities are endless with the many colors and forms that are available. Brandhorst will show slides from his gardens and nursery where he sells sempervivum (hens and chicks), sedums and other low rock hugging plants.
This is the fourth in the McLaughlin Garden and Homestead’s winter and spring lecture series. The lecture series is held on alternate Wednesdays at 4 p.m. The public is invited for tea beginning at 3:30. The talks are free but donations are greatly appreciated.
Remaining lectures in the series are Cindy Tibbetts on March 27 discussing herbs and Mary Van Nest on April 10 discussing birds.
