WEST PARIS — Virginia M. Hackett, 90, of West Paris, passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 12, under the loving care of Ledgeview Living Center, where she had been a resident for six years.

She was born in Malden, Mass., Sept. 29, 1922, the daughter of Leslie and Florence Marks Sweezy. She graduated from Malden High School and attended Burdett College for one year. She had been a secretary and bookkeeper for the family lumber business.

She was involved with the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey M. Hooker and his wife, Carolyn, of Detroit; her daughter, Barbara Whittemore and her husband, Danny, of South Paris; daughter-in-law, Linda Hooker of Oxford; grandchildren, Bethany Shaw, Michael Hooker, Peter Hooker, Lana Whittemore, Bruce Whittemore and Kelly Whittemore; great-grandchildren, Dehlia, Stella, Holden, Cora, Sadie, Cyrus, Wyatt, Lucas, Gracie and Jaquae; stepchildren, Brenda Coleman, JoAnn Hutchinson and Barry Hackett; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was predeceased by her sons, Richard Michael Hooker and James L. Hooker; her husbands, Howard A. Hooker and John H. Hackett; and her brother, George M. Sweezy.
