FARMINGTON — Ernestine Hood Wallace, 93, formerly of Strong, died Tuesday, March 19, at Orchard Park Nursing Care Center, with her family at her side.

She was born March 2, 1920, in Lancaster, N.H., a daughter of Charles (Burnham) and Dorsey (Stone) Hood. In 1949, she married Roland Wallace and moved to Strong. Mrs. Wallace was a hard-working, independent and frugal lady, working many years at Forster Manufacturing. Co. in Strong and G.H. Bass Shoe Co. in Wilton, until retiring to care for her husband. She was a great cook and was known for her chicken pot pie, dynamites and birthday cakes.

Mrs. Wallace was proud of her family and loved them deeply. She was an avid hunter and loved to fish and enjoyed camping at Chain of Ponds and Baxter State Park. She also enjoyed snowmobiling. Mrs. Wallace spent as much time as possible at her camp at Moxie Pond, driving herself there until her late 80s.

She is survived by her children, Michael V. Moffett and his wife, Kathy, of Farmington; daughter, Sharon Allen and her companion, Gale Ellis, of New Vineyard; grandchildren, Michael A. Moffett and his wife, Mandy, of Gloucester, Mass., Dawn Dumas and her husband, Mike, of Bowdoin, Shannon Rolbiecki and her husband, Kurt, of Kingfield, David Allen and his companion, Diane, of West Sansea, N.H., Randy Moffett and Ronnie and Ricky Robinson; great-grandchildren, Michael D. Moffett, Megan Allen and Jonathan Ross; a brother, Calvin Hood of Tewksbury, Mass.; cousin, Virginia Stickney; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Gloria Lincoln.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Moffett; son, John Moffett; husband, Roland Wallace; and sisters, Virginia, Elizabeth and Shirley.
