MEXICO — The Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (the “Green Church”) is announcing its Holy Week services. On March 28 an ecumenical Maundy Thursday service will be held at the church at 7 p.m. Participating in the service with the church’s pastor, Izzie Radford-Nash, will be Pastor Carol Stevens of the Rumford United Methodist Church and the Rev. Dr. Tim Parsons of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Rumford. There will be special music, and Holy Communion will commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples.
Church members will join in the ecumenical Good Friday service to be held at the Rumford United Methodist Church at 7 p.m., which will once again be led by clergy of the three churches and lay readers will take part.
At 6 a.m. on March 31, an ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service will be held in the Mt. Valley Middle School parking lot. Laity of the Mexico Congregational Church will lead the service, with the theme “From Darkness to Light.” It will be followed by a breakfast served by the Women’s Fellowship in the dining room of the church.
During the 10 a.m. Easter Sunday service in the church sanctuary, the cantata “Hallelujah! Praise the Lord” will be presented by the choir and a reader. The choir is directed and accompanied by the church musician, JoEllen Winslow. Those who wish to have memorial flowers placed in the sanctuary on Easter may contact Sue Byam to have the memorial information printed in the church bulletin.
