BOSTON — Thomas W. Adams of Hartford, passed on to a better life April 5, surrounded by his six children and five of his grandchildren at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after developing complications from his treatment with leukemia.

He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., March 8, 1938, to Dorothy Lincoln Adams and William James Adams. Tom worked as a firefighter in Stratford, Conn., for 25 years and retired at the rank of lieutenant. Upon retirement, he moved to Hartford, where he worked at the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore for many years. Tom later worked as a bus driver for RSU 10, until he began his courageous battle with leukemia.

He is survived by his wife, Jenifer; his children, Tom Adams and his wife, Hope, Lori Holden and her husband, Ken, Robert Adams and his wife, Ashley, Bonnie Parkin and her husband, Jason, Will Adams and his partner, Christina Bisson and Jack Adams; his grandchildren, Ashley, David, Morgan, Kyle, Kurt, Brody, Emma, Alexis and Madison; and his great-granddaughter, Madison.

Tom lived a long adventure-filled life. He enjoyed working with his hands and learning new things like making his home and also made maple syrup. Tom also enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be conducted by the family.
