RUMFORD — The “Mission: Maine Making a Difference” tour, with musical guests the Hyssongs and featured speaker Dr. Wendell Calder, will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Rumford Falls Auditorium.
This outreach to the community is just one piece of a statewide month-long crusade that began Good Friday, running all of the month of April, and spanning from Fort Kent to Kittery. It includes concerts, banquets and speaking engagements aimed at spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to as much of the state as possible. The prayer of the organizers is to “see souls saved, saints stirred and the Savior satisfied.”
The Hyssongs — Dell, Susan and Richard — travel full-time sharing the gospel through music. They encourage and delight audiences with family vocal harmony, brass instruments and their lively, humorous energetic style.
Calder is a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute and was a pastor for 16 years. In 1970 he founded the Living Waters Bible Conference in Danforth, a Christian camp for both youth and adults. Five years later, Calder founded Local Church Evangelism, a ministry offering evangelistic outreach and teaching to local churches. Since then he has traveled widely as an evangelist and Bible teacher.
Some of the area churches supporting and promoting this event are the Dixfield Common Baptist Church, Carthage Union Church, First Baptist Church of Mexico, First Baptist Church of Rumford, Praise Assembly Church and Dixfield Nazarene Church.
