Auburn native Michelle L’Heureux was among the people hurt in Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon.

The 37-year-old insurance worker suffered multiple wounds on her arms and legs, including an injury to a lower leg, her sister, Danielle L’Heureux of Auburn, said Tuesday.

Doctors at a Boston hospital rushed L’Heureux into emergency surgery Monday afternoon. She is expected to have more surgery, her sister said.

L’Heureux graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in 1993 and moved to Quincy, Mass., in 1999. She is employed by John Hancock Insurance and works at the John Hancock Tower in downtown Boston.

“I just want to see her walk,” her sister said. “She’s an absolute sweetheart. She’s the person I call when I need someone to talk to.”

L’Heureux was waiting for her boyfriend to cross the marathon’s finish line when the bombs exploded.
