WILTON — The Wilton Day Homemakers met on April 11 with 17 members present. The thought of the day was, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you cannot change it, change your attitude.” Members sang “The Old Rugged Cross.”
The group was invited to a community tea to be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on June 12 at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Lois King updated on the Advisory Board Community Service Project, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Farmington. Monitor bags will be made.
At the state meeting members will be voting on by-law changes, voting on a new secretary and treasurer. There will be a memorial service and SeniorsPlus will be there.
The County Spring Meeting is May 19. The group needs to bring two items for the silent auction. Connie will bring movie tickets and Linda will do an Avon basket. Mavis, Moe and Linda will be going to the spring meeting on a scholarship. A door prize basket needs to be made; Hazel will bring napkins, Mavis, paper towels, Connie pot holders, Anne Storey, wooden spoons, Annette, pot holders, Moe, scrubbies, Betty, something cute, Olive, dish soap, Linda, a basket, and Becky, an apron.
Becky of the trips committee reported that the Fryeburg Fairgrounds trip is still a go. There are seven people who are ready to go. They will leave at 9 a.m. on May 18.
The craft day will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at St. Luke’s Church. The craft will be card making. Emily will bring craft books from the Wilton Library for members to buy if interested. The group decided to donate $1 per person to the St. Luke’s Church for the use of the church for this meeting.
The next program on May 9 will be on Nova Scotia, by Hazel Flagg. Becky and Lillian are on the dinner committee.
At the April 11 meeting, Anne Storey did the program on birds. She had a name the bird game, were she told a clue and played the bird song. Attendees made bluebird bird houses. A total of eight houses were made. A potluck meal followed.
Craft day on May 16 will be embroidery. Participants can bring a plain piece of muslin to learn different stitches or bring in a pillow case or any pre-stamped piece to work on.
