RUMFORD — Due to the lack of a quorum, Rumford selectmen didn’t hold a meeting Tuesday night to discuss proposed ordinances.
By 6 p.m., when the meeting was to have started, only Vice Chairman Jeff Sterling and Selectman Brad Adley were present, along with Town Manager Carlo Puiia.
Selectman Jolene Lovejoy was absent, as was board Chairman Greg Buccina, whom Sterling said was on vacation.
Selectman Jeremy Volkernick resigned on April 10. The board is expected to accept his resignation at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18.
Ten minutes after Tuesday night’s meeting was to start, Sterling told about 25 people in the audience that the board could only accept and read proposed ordinances. He said they couldn’t discuss the proposals or take any action.
Sterling apologized.
“You guys were all prepared and we weren’t, so that’s on us,” he said.
Puiia said the board would take ordinance proposals at the second, previously scheduled meeting, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
Additionally, Puiia said he would schedule an additional meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.
