AUGUSTA — A state Corrections Working Group voted unanimously Thursday to recommend to the Board of Corrections that the Franklin County jail in Farmington re-open as a full service jail as of July 1.

It is currently a 72-hour holding facility.

The recommendation also would give the county the money now being paid out to house the inmates elsewhere.

The corrections group found that Franklin County could operate the jail within its cap of $1.6 million for at least the next two fiscal years.

More information on the meetings will follow as soon as possible.
