WILTON — Ryan Beisaw of Lewiston has a goal to raise $3,500 for the April 27 Multiple Scerlosis Walk, a five-mile walk starting at Lewiston High School.

His family in Wilton is ready to help. His father, Paul Beisaw, and sister Karin Fernald along with son, Cole Fernald, posted a sign at his Old Route 2 home Thursday seeking support for the walk.

“The primary goal of Walk MS is to raise funds to help people who have MS, and their families, through MS education, support, advocacy, services and research,” according to the Greater New England Chapter’s walk Web site.

Beisaw, 29, graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 2002 and earned a degree in engineering from the University of Maine. Soon after, at age 25, he was diagnosed with MS, Paul Beisaw said.

It hasn’t slowed him down. Living in Lewiston, he works as an engineer for Wright Pierce in Topsham. He takes pool therapy a few times a week and exercises everyday, Karin Fernald said.

Last year, Beisaw’s team, Beisaw’s Buddies, was one of the biggest fundraisers for the walk, raising more than $3,000.

Family and friends are ready to help. A huge team is forming, Fernald said.

Team members who walk are invited to a barbecue at Ryan’s home after the walk, Paul Beisaw said.

Those not able to join the walk can help by making pledges per mile, he said. To donate or for more information, call Fernald at 779-4991.
