LEWISTON — Lawyers across the state will spend time in local libraries on Law Day, Wednesday, May 1, to provide resources and assistance to people in need, as well as to talk about statewide legal issues and meet with library patrons.
Lawyers in Libraries: Law Day 2013 is a free event that is open to the public. It will take place at the Lewiston Public Library from noon to 2 p.m with local attorney Michael T. Bigos.
Bigos is an attorney with the Berman & Simmons practice in Lewiston. Bigos serves as a governor and legislative chairman of the MTLA. He is a frequent speaker on legislative affairs and political advocacy for injury victims and safety policies. Bigos was rated as a “Rising Star” by the peer-reviewed Super Lawyers selection process.
The Maine Justice Action Group organized Lawyers in Libraries: Law Day 2013 to provide Maine citizens with access to legal advice and information and demonstrate how legal access is critical to a community’s well being. Attendees will receive information about free resources, low-cost legal assistance and legal referrals. In addition, some attendees will have the opportunity for a brief private consultation with Bigos about personal legal matters.
The Justice Action Group is a coalition of Maine’s state and federal judiciaries, the University of Maine School of Law, the Maine State Bar Association, the Maine Bar Foundation, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and the boards of legal service providers.
