1929 – 2013

PHILLIPS — Lester Presby Gould, 83, of Phillips, died April 25, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 2, 1929, in Avon, the son of Lester and Lillian (Presby) Gould.

He was educated in the schools of Avon and Phillips. He married Leola Kelley on Sept. 4, 1948, and she died July 21, 2004. He worked for local lumbermen and later for Gould Brothers Lumbering until his retirement in 1987. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, panning for gold and playing poker.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Gould and wife, Kathy, of Phillips, George E. Gould and companion, Sherry Gordon, of Phillips; seven daughters, Celia Riendeau and husband, Robert, of Avon, Rachel Bachelder and husband, Lloyd, of Freeman, Gail Hinkley of Lawrence, Mass., Irvena Bachelder and companion of Livermore, Agnes Ross and husband, Bennett, of New Sharon, Leslie Bachelder and husband, Glendon, of Phillips, Zelma Gould and companion, Al Dixon, of Norridgewock; two brothers, Ivan Gould Sr. of Avon, Conley Gould Sr. of Phillips; one sister, Lorraine Berry of Phillips; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Leola Kelley Gould; his daughter, Jane Gould; his grandson, Robert Riendeau Jr.; two great-grandsons, Travis and Trevor Barker; his sister, Anita Ellicott; his son in-law, Arthur Hinkley.
