AUBURN — Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services, known in Androscoggin County as SACC, is hosting its 13th annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner on Saturday, May 18, at Martindale Country Club, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour.
This year’s celebrity waiters include Jon LaBonte, Mayor of Auburn and executive director of the Androscoggin Land Trust; Josh Shea and Molly McGill from L-A Magazine; Sen. Margaret Craven; Deputy District Attorney Andrew Robinson; and Danielle Waugh from WCSH TV.
Additional waiters are Roger Phillipon from Central Maine Community College, local actor Mitchell Clyde Thomas, Odelle Bowman from LA Arts, Chip Morrison from the Chamber of Commerce, Tony Ronzio from the Bangor Daily News (and formerly of the Sun Journal), Mary Lafontaine from the Auburn City Council and the Career Center, Ernie and Patti Gagne, Tom Poulin from the Auburn Police Department and Jim Nutting from Maine Art Glass Studio. This year’s M.C. is Jeff Peterson, evening anchor of WGME TV news.
Waiters will be assigned to a table and will share their talents with the crowd. Music for the event will be provided by Mark Peillet from Music Reflections in Auburn. Also included in the event are a silent and a live auction of items from local artisans and businesses. Auction items include art prints, jewelry, quilted items, Sea Dogs tickets and a guitar signed by the members of Sugarland.
Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services provides support and assistance to people affected by sexual assault, sexual abuse, stalking and sexual harassment. Services include a 24 hour response line; support groups; drop in programs at local high schools and elder housing units; accompaniment to local hospitals, law enforcement and court proceedings; outreach services and school and community awareness and prevention presentations.
