Girl Scout information night
NORWAY — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a girl and adult Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie information night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Second Congregational Church.
Girls entering kindergarten through third grade this coming fall and their parents/chaperones from the Oxford Hills area are invited to attend the informational meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the Daisy and Brownie program and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Girls will have an opportunity to sample some activities and adults will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

World’s Fair yard sale June 15
WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will host a yard sale starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the fairgrounds, 36 Green Road, across from Melby’s Market.
All residents of Waterford will not have to pay for an outside space and the inside of the Dance Hall is $10 per table.
Organizers are accepting donated articles, except for appliances and computer equipment.
Also planned is a livestock sell-swap-or-buy and an auction if there is enough interest. If you are interest in the livestock event call Faylene at 743-9623 or 890-1097.
The fair food booth will open to take care of lunch time needs.
Waterford Library annual meeting
WATERFORD — The Waterford Library Association will hold its annual meeting at the library at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.
Reports on the activities of the past year will be presented and trustees will be elected for the coming year. The program will include a short presentation by board vice president and local historian Nancy Marcotte on a painting by John Calvin Stevens, the building architect, recently donated to the library.
Refreshments will be served. The meeting will be held in the meeting room on the second floor of the library. All Waterford residents are invited.
Free program on gardening basics
NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will hold a free program on gardening basics from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23.
The public is invited to learn about preparing gardens for planting, the best fertilizers to use, maintaining a garden and what vegetables grow best in Maine.
The guest speaker is Diane York of Bryant Pond. York, a lifelong gardener, is involved in the Master Gardener volunteer program of the Cooperative Extension in Oxford County, and has taught adult education classes at Buckfield High School and at Rumford Hospital.

May 28 class on money matters
CASCO — A free class, “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters,” will be held held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, by Karen Fuller, financial adviser at Edward Jones, at the Crooked River Adult Education. Call the Adult Education office at 207-627-4291 to reserve a spot.
VFW Auxiliary turkey dinner
PARIS — The VFW Auxiliary Post 9787 will hold a turkey dinner at 5 and 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the hall, East Main Street.
Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.
Proceeds benefit 8-year-old Nicholas Spring who had a brain tumor removed. Cash donations can be sent to the Nicholas Spring medical fund at Northeast Bank, South Paris.
Pancake supper for Relay for Life
PARIS — Team Izzy will hold a pancake supper benefit for Relay For Life from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the First Congregational Church.
Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under, no charge for 3 and under.
Fun Dog Day to kick off
OXFORD — Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills needs the public’s help to make their first Fun Dog Day event a success. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the Oxford County Fairgrounds.
