Homemakers hold picnic raffle
PERU — Raffle tickets are on sale for a picnic basket filled with goodies for an ole fashioned picnic with family or friends.
Tickets are 50 cents each or three for $1. They are available at Mrs. B.’s Village Store, Main Street, 562-7800.
The drawing will be held May 23.
Proceeds will be used by the Peru Homemakers Extension to provide community services.
Hospital Auxiliary yard sale May 18
RUMFORD — Rumford Hospital Auxiliary will hold their annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at 209 Lincoln Ave.
There will be lots of items, food and fun for everyone. No early birds please.
Mexico Historical Society meeting
MEXICO — Mexico Historical Society will meet on Monday, May 20, at the Cal Lyons Room.
A brief business meeting will be held at 5 p.m. followed by a potluck dinner at 5:30.
Phil Blampied will speak at 6 p.m. about his videos on “Today River Valley” covering Rumford, Mexico, Andover, Canton, Newry and surrounding towns. “Today River Valley” is a community news video program for the towns of the upper Androscoggin Valley.

Sons of Italy monthly meeting
RUMFORD — The Sons of Italy will hold the regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Sons of Italy Hall in Smith Crossing.
SeniorsPlus plans focus group
NORWAY — SeniorsPlus will host a focus group in Oxford County from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Second Congregational Church of Norway, to talk about aging services in rural Maine. This is one of two focus groups the agency plans to hold in order to assess the needs of older adults in the rural areas of Oxford and Franklin counties.
“We are looking for adults between the ages of 55 and 70 to join a conversation about aging services, specifically issues around accessing services in rural Maine,” said Connie Jones, director of Community Services for SeniorsPlus.
Residents of Oxford County who are interested in joining this conversation are asked to call SeniorsPlus at 1-800-427-1241 to sign up for the Oxford County Focus Group. As a thank you for participants’ time $25 gas or groceries gift certificates will be given.
