Wayne Farmers’ Market to open

WAYNE — Wayne Farmers’ Market will open for the fifth season on Saturday, May 25, on the green next to the Post Office.

Support local farmers and agriculture from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Memorial Day weekend through Aug. 31.

Shop locally for vegetables, herbs, meat, perennials, baked goods, goat’s milk soap, blueberries, eggs, pesto, wool and cut flowers.

The annual Wayne Farmers’ Market Celebration will be held on July 6. Chris Cushman and Friends will perform and there will be children’s activities.

New this year, the market will provide Electronic Benefit Transfer services. The EBT program will allow shoppers to purchase local food with Supplemental Nutrition Assistant benefits. SNAP customers will receive bonus market bucks, $2.50 for every $10, each time they shop at the market.

Basic pistol shooting course

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsman’s Association will host a NRA basic pistol shooting course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the RRG&SA Clubhouse. This course will teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

The course includes classroom and live fire range time, learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Student’s learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules as well as pistol cleaning and maintenance.

The course is open to all over the age of 18. Children 14 and older may attend if accompanied by a parent. No prior knowledge is required. Instructor will provide all materials, firearms and ammunition. This course will provide the necessary education to obtain a Maine Concealed Carry Permit.
