FARMINGTON — The American Legion Roderick-Crosby Post 28 has announced plans for Memorial Day services and parade Monday, May 27.

Farmington

* 9 a.m. — Wreath-laying ceremony service at the WW I Monument with color guard. Prayer given by Chaplain Langdon Adams.

* 9:30 a.m. — Services at the Post Home on the corner of Middle and High streets.   Commander-elect David Targett will welcome everyone and introduce Bernadette Harvell. Pam Poisson, auxiliary past president, will sing the national anthem. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Post Memorial will follow the service.

* 10 a.m. — Parade begins and follows a route modified from past years.

From Middle Street, the parade turns right on to High Street, left on to Academy Street to Main Street. It turns right onto Main, passing the parade announcer at Franklin Savings Bank.

The parade continues north to Meetinghouse Park, where three wreaths will be placed at the military monuments inside the park. It turns right onto Anson Street to the cemetery behind the old courthouse. A ceremony will take place, including a wreath laying and playing taps.

From Anson Street, the parade turns right on to High Street and continues back to the American Legion Post where a light lunch will be served.

This is followed by a balloon release at the Mallett School where classic and antique cars will be on display for viewing.

Wilton

A Memorial Day service is planned in downtown Wilton for the first time in several years. It begins at 9 a.m. at the town monument on Main Street. Mark Sennick will speak, David Smith will lead a prayer and a wreath will be dropped into Wilson Stream.
