MOUNTAIN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL 2013 TOP TEN

is the son of Christopher and Debbie Carver of Rumford. Garrett is the Valedictorian of his class. He enjoys playing soccer and was a varsity captain and all conference player his senior year. Garrett also runs track, mainly in mid-distance events such as the 800 meter, and also competes on the math team. Garrett is the president of his school’s local NHS chapter and student council. Garrett plans to attend either Bates College or Bowdoin College to major in biochemistry and hopes to pursue a career in scientific research.

Abigail Marie Day is the daughter of Paula and Steven Day of Rumford. Throughout high school, she excelled in her classroom work while participating in a variety of extra-curricular activities. She played soccer, basketball and lacrosse, including being chosen as a captain of the soccer team her senior year. She has taken dance classes since she was four years old. Not only was she able to finish in the top ten of her class, she was also able to maintain high honors all four years and received many classroom awards. She is involved in Student Council and Peer Helpers. During her sophomore year, Abby was inducted into the National Honor Society and chosen to participate in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference. She attended Dirigo Girls State her senior year. She also served as class marshal for the Class of 2012. After high school, Abby will be attending the University of Maine at Orono, enrolled in the Explorations program.

is the oldest daughter of Susan and Gary. She has been in the National Honor Society since her junior year. She has been dedicated to most of Mountain Valley’s plays and musicals, as she has been into acting since she was young. In addition to being in the NHS, performing in plays and musicals, and being on the track team, Chelsea is also dedicated to her academics which has been an important aspect of her life since elementary school. She has always taken challenging courses, such as Honors and AP classes. She prefers artistic classes and loves to draw in her free time. She also enjoys Spanish classes. She has a straight 4 in her Spanish class this year so far. She also excelled in her SAT’s with the score of a 1940. Chelsea plans to attend Endicott College next year to study psychology.

is the son of Charles and Rachel DeTellis of Rumford. He consistently endeavors to work hard and achieve his goals. Jeremie tries to be a good student in the classroom and a strong athlete on the field. He plays golf, skis and runs track. Jeremie is also involved in the National Honor Society, student council and also serves as the Class of 2013 president. After high school, Jeremie plans to major in business finance. Jeremie enjoys discussing politics and social issues that face contemporary society. He is especially mindful of Haiti, Jeremie’s home, and plans to return one day to help his country. Jeremie also tries to be mindful of world events and hopes that one day he will contribute to history. Jeremie will attend the University of Maine at Orono to study Business Finance.

Brooke Amber Dolloff is the daughter of Gary Dolloff and Debra Towle. Brooke has maintained high honors status all throughout her high school career, challenging herself with Honors and AP classes. She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore, and has been involved in Student Council. Athletics is a very interracial part of Brooke’s life. She plays three sports: softball, basketball and football. She was the first girl to play football for Mountain Valley Middle School and High School. She has been captain of both the softball and basketball teams. Brooke is involved in her church youth ministry program. She also works for Towle’s Corner Store and Sunday River in food and beverage. Brooke has explored the careers of cake decorating and elementary teaching during high school. Outside of school, Brooke enjoys spending time with her family and friends at camp. Brooke plans on pursuing the major of graphic design at either Lyndon State or Clarkson University.

is the daughter of Melissa Forbes of Jay and Mark Fryover of Gorham. Alexa is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2013. Throughout high school, she has been able to balance AP and Honors classes while being involved in extra-curricular activities. She is a member of Student Council, NHS, Peer Helpers and Chorus. She is a varsity lacrosse player, 1st team MVC all-star and an all-state academic field hockey player. Alexa has been involved in the school’s theater productions with lead roles, and has performed many solos at school concerts. After high school, she plans on attending Castleton State College in Vermont, majoring in Theater Arts and playing field hockey.

is the daughter of Neal and Beth Giberson of Rumford. She has been involved with dance since the age of three and organized soccer since her seventh grade year. Tori is also involved with NHS and teaches dance at her local studio for ages 3-11. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, cooking and reading. Next year she plans on attending Franklin Pierce University for pre-medical studies, then hopes to move on to graduate school and eventually become a pediatric oncologist.

is the daughter of Joe Gorham of Rumford. Addy has had a very involved high school career balancing AP and Honors classes, sports all year round, and various clubs. She has also been taking dance classes for fifteen years. She is a member of Peer Helpers, Interact, Youth Ministry, and was inducted into National Honor Society as a sophomore. Addy has been a class officer and participated in Student Council. She is an involved member of the Parish of the Holy Savior, serving as a Eucharistic minister. Addy has earned her varsity letter in field hockey, basketball, tennis and track. She played on AAU Basketball teams during her off-seasons so that she was always busy. In 2012, she was honored with the Maine Youth Excellence in Art award. Her artwork is currently hanging in the Blaine House. She has worked at Teena’s Restaurant and Frosty Delite. Addy is proud to be graduating fifth in her class and is looking forward to attending Bentley University in the fall, majoring in Marketing.

is the son of Deborah and William Murphy of Rumford. Throughout high school, he has challenged himself by taking numerous AP and Honors classes. Sean also participated on the baseball and basketball teams all four years and the golf team the past three years of high school. He has maintained high honors throughout high school and is ranked fourth in his class. Sean was inducted into the National Honor Society his junior year and currently serves as the Chapter Secretary. He enjoys hanging out with friends, volunteering every summer on the Trek Across Maine, and spending time at Roxbury Pond. After high school, Sean plans on attending the University of Maine at Orono to major in mechanical engineering.

is the daughter of Alan and Lisa Swett of Mexico. She is number ten in the Class of 2013. Vanessa has taken all AP courses offered in Social Studies and English. She has taken honors courses in all other subjects. She participates in field hockey in the fall and tennis in the spring. She works at Subway throughout the year as well as Frosty Delite in the summer. She was inducted into NHS her sophomore year. Vanessa enjoys being with friends and family, going to the movies and shopping. In the fall, she will be attending Champlain College, majoring in Psychology.
