FAYETTE — Harold “Harry” F. Dwyer Jr., 55, a resident of Knox Hill Road, Fayette, died suddenly, Sunday, May 26, at his home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1957, in Port Jefferson, Long Island, N.Y., the son of Harry F. Dwyer Sr. and Rosemary (Hartmann) Dwyer. He was a 1975 graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in Smithtown, N.Y., and was a 1979 graduate of University of Maine Orono.
Harry later earned his master’s degree in forestry in 1993. During his time at Orono, Harry participated on the track team and was awarded state champion in the long jump. Harry was also the recipient of the Maine Forest Services Outstanding Forest Stewardship Award and the Natural Resources Council of Maine Annual Environmental Award.
Harry worked as a woodsman; he was a licensed forester, and also was a teacher having worked at Unity College teaching forestry. Harry had recently accepted a position at Mt. Blue in Farmington.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, caring for his animals and loved being on the water. He was a devoted son, father, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Dwyer of St. James, N.Y.; his son, Harold “Harry” F. Dwyer III of Fayette; his brother, Mike Dwyer, sisters, Mary Dwyer and Maureen Vazac and her husband, Fred, nieces and nephew, Leanne, Corinne and Daniel Vazac, all of St. James, N.Y.; former wife, Debra Davidson, of North Carolina.
He was predeceased by his father.
