Dance benefits Relay For Life

MECHANIC FALLS — A dance to benefit The Key Bank Relay For Life team will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Mechanic Falls American Legion.

Dog Pile has donated their time to come play.

Cost is $10 per person. There will be burgers, dogs and fries for sale as well as baked goods. There will be a 50/50, Red Sox vs. Yankees raffle tickets, Relay items and two raffle baskets.

AUBURN — WMCA-WIC Program will host Afternoon Tea with the Princesses from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Hasty Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park Road.

Join in an afternoon filled with fun crafts and activities. Dress in your best princess, prince or fairy attire; costumes are optional. Beverages and light refreshments will be provided.

There will also be a raffle of a basket filled with princess-themed items. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The winner will be drawn at the event.

Tickets for the tea party are $5 per person and may be purchased in advance at the WMCA-WIC office, 79 Main St., or at the door on the day of the event.

Head Start spots at Cottrell School

MONMOUTH — The Henry L. Cottrell School still has openings for the 4-year-old Head Start program in collaboration with Southern Kennebec Child Development Corp. for the 2013-14 school year.

Children must be 4 years old on or before Oct. 15.

Head Start offers an educational program, meals and services such as speech, mental health, medical and dental.

New Auburn Seniors meeting

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will meet at noon Wednesday, June 5, followed by lunch and bingo.

Cost for lunch is $3. Three bingo cards for $1 for all games.

There will be a dinner at noon Wednesday, June 19, with choice of chicken pot pie with cranberry sauce or two-piece chicken with mashed potatoes and cole slaw.

Open bingo will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 and June 26.

AUBURN — Thanks to volunteers at Best Buy, the Auburn Public Library is expanding its technology assistance. The Best Buy technology gang will be in the Grand Reading Room every Thursday starting in June at 2 p.m. for Thursdays with Techies.

Can’t figure out your new iPad, iPhone or digital camera? Bring your device and get some personal and friendly help in a relaxed atmosphere. No registration is required; however, a call to notify the library about your technology needs will make sure you are connected with the right volunteer.

Chair caning workshop June 8

NEW GLOUCESTER — Learn the traditional seven-step method of chair caning at a workshop to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26.

Auburn summer feeding program

AUBURN — Auburn will offer a summer feeding program this summer. Breakfast and lunch will be served weekdays from June 24 to Aug. 16. Sites are Park Avenue School, Fairview School, Pettengill Park, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, P A L Center and Sherwood Heights School.

All meals must be eaten on site as participants are not allowed to remove food from the site. Free meals are provided to all preschool children to 18 years of age.

Free chakra workshop

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free chakra workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Chakras: Your Life Energy” will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.

Chakras are major energetic centers in the body that run along the spine. When they are functioning properly we feel well, energized and balanced. Wellness educator Marcy Covey will teach the influence of chakras on physical and emotional health. Discover if your chakras are open or closed and what you can do to strengthen and balance your charkas.
